The Versatile Blogger Award

10

I was kind of on the fence about continuing award chains. Then I remembered, “Oh wait, this wonderful person named Marvelline Marvels got your blog its first taste of exposure when you were first starting.” So I have jumped on the award wagon because there are two important things I need to do. (1) Take the time to actually thank people who read my blog and support me in the process. (2) Give that same nudge of exposure and inspiration to other small bloggers. Marvelline may not realize this, but I was able to commit myself to a routine schedule through simple of acts of kindness like her nomination.

Who is Marvelline you ask? She runs a pretty awesome blog. To be honest with you, I go there sometimes just to breathe in the aura of calmness and serenity it brings forth. Marvelline takes some killer pictures and that really adds to the flavor of her blog. My favorite thing though is her mutual dedication to inspiring other people, preaching understanding of others, and providing advice for sensitive people to make it through their day. If you enjoy reading my blog, I highly recommend reading Marvelline’s blog because we have quite a few things in common!

Official Rules:

  1. Thank the person who gave you this award. (swag I did that)
  2. Include a link to their blog. (check)
  3. Select 15 blogs that are truly excellent and nominate them for the Versatile Blogger Award. (finding blogs is what keeps me up at night)
  4. List 7 things about yourself (I can probably do that)

That doesn’t sound too bad, let’s roll!

Nominations:

  1.  A Symphony of Literacy (great life and writing advice from a fellow writer)
  2. suej224 (some kickass photos that take routine occurrences and make you appreciate them more )
  3. allanbeardsworth (I read his daily chess puzzles and they are quality)
  4. Perfectly imperfect (a mother experimenting with poetry and spreading inspiration through her life experiences)
  5. A Beautiful Mess (general life commentary/advice that I take to heart)
  6. How Do I Grown Up (witty details about her experiences and inspiration for readers)
  7. Woman (A blog by Bec Hanson, she enjoys talking about interactions between the sexes and it’s fascinating stuff)
  8. Neanicnomad (poetry found here is off the chain)
  9. being an Indian woman (refreshing take on the perspective of an Indian feminist)
  10. Artist Within Me (her prose is something to be reckoned with; she has a good mix of informative and creative writing)
  11. LushYourHome (a collection of awesome interior decoration ideas that will make you jealous and want to remodel your residence)
  12. writemeagalaxy (poetry and short stories that will move your soul, witty and moving stuff to be found)
  13. Midnight Blues (soulful blues, but in real life not a record)
  14. Thoughts From An Environmental Engineer (We’re pen pals and she has a lot of interesting things to say. We’re similar enough that it kind of spooked me.)
  15. Reaching Meadow Lane (I always read her posts, her accounts of life post divorce and just life in general are gripping; I always gain some fresh insight)

I tried to give each of you a nice description to build the reader’s appetite, but I realize many of us are amorphous blobs that can’t be categorized (speak for yourself Adi). So take my description as what made me follow your blog and read your posts on a regular basis. I’m not trying to categorize you or anything like that, that would be criminal.

7 Things About Me:

1. I’m almost nocturnal. I stay up until the break of dawn, wake up in the morning, and then nap during the day.

2. I work as a writing tutor at my college. I enjoy teaching others about informative writing and it’s really rewarding to see others become able to express their ideas through written word.

3. I was born in India, but I moved to the United States when I was six months old. I’ve visited India frequently, but I’m fairly Americanized. However, I didn’t get U.S. citizenship until I was 17.

4. I went to kindergarten in India because I had some visa issues and wasn’t able to come back to the U.S. Kindergarten starts earlier in India so I think I was four at the time. People at the school thought I was clinically dumb because I didn’t know how to read, write, or do arithmetic yet. I remember the teacher going “Pintu what is 7 + 5”, then turning to me “Adi how do you fight with a sword.” I stood up and gave the class a demonstration like a boss.

5. I have a fascination with makeup and beauty gurus even though I don’t use makeup. I enjoy watching others take good care of themselves and teach others how to do the same. It inspires me to take better care of myself. Sometimes I spook beauty bloggers and Youtubers when I comment because they didn’t expect someone like me to be in their audience.

6. I refer to myself in the second person at times, mostly during reflection. At times it makes me feel like I have two voices, a conscience and an active thinking voice. When in deep thought and by myself I mostly use the second person to talk to myself. I think this has made me very comfortable with spending time alone and I can exist in isolation fairly comfortably. In my college years I have stopped being such a recluse though, I value spending time with my best friends.

7. I enjoy cooking and baking. My signature dish is Dragon Breath Pesto. I use minimal amounts of Ricotta and olive oil and leave the basil and garlic a little coarse within the mixture so it has a strong flavor. It’s worth the garlic breath for sure.

Thanks Marvelline!

That made me feel fuzzy inside, thank you. I want to display the same acceptance assurance and assurance I received when I started blogging, it’s something I take very seriously. I have watched you explore your own writing voice through blogging and it has been fun to watch so I didn’t hesitate to mention you 🙂

  4. Wow, I love this post (obviously, because I mean, I don’t think anyone has ever said so many amazing things about me and my blog haha, THANK YOU <3). I love your 7 facts as well as the way you took your time to actually find blogs you like and also explain what each of them is about in brackets. Well done, and of course I am really honored to hear that I was able to play a little role in encouraging you. You are doing such an unbelievable job writing all these daily (!) elaborate essays. Good things are waiting for you out there Adi 😀
